Hope Caregiver Highlights: Meet Sharon

Hope Caregiver Highlight: Meet Sharon Burlison

At Hope Senior Home Care, we know that great caregiving is about more than helping with daily needs. It’s about bringing warmth, companionship, compassion, and a little bit of sunshine into someone’s day.

Sharon Burlison has been doing just that with Hope since 2018.

With her big smile and spunky personality, Sharon has a way of brightening the lives of the people around her. But her caregiving story began long before she joined the Hope family.

Sharon was just 17 years old when she needed a job and decided to give caregiving a try. What started as a job quickly became something much more. She discovered how much she enjoyed caring for others, advocating for them, and making a difference in their lives.

Caregiving became her passion.

And while Sharon gives a lot of herself to others, she also believes strongly in taking care of herself. She enjoys gardening, boating, riding her bike, and going to the gym. As Sharon shared with us, self-care is important—it helps her maintain balance and continue giving her best to the people she cares for.

Family is at the center of Sharon’s life. Her grandchildren have her heart, and she feels fortunate to live close to her family and have such a strong support system. She’s also always ready for a little adventure. Her son is taking her to Cedar Point, and Sharon is ready for the rides and whatever else the day brings!

Then there’s Sharon’s soft spot for animals.

If an animal needs a home, Sharon has a hard time saying no—especially when it comes to something a little unusual. At one point, she even found herself with a boa constrictor! That particular houseguest didn’t stay for long and eventually found a more appropriate home through a pet store. These days, Sharon shares her home with two faithful canine companions.

When we asked Sharon what she hopes for in the future, her answer told us a lot about who she is.

She already has what she wants.

She hopes to continue enjoying the closeness of her family, her home on a peaceful piece of rural property, and the opportunity to keep working and caring for others.

After a lifetime of caregiving, Sharon still finds joy in what first drew her to this work at 17 years old—being there for someone else.

Sharon, thank you for the sunshine, compassion, advocacy, and spunk you have brought to Hope and to your clients since 2018. We are so fortunate to have you as part of the Hope family.
